The performer's perfume party was a decadent snore as guests tried in vain to wake the singer from her "Sleeping with Lady Gaga" performance art piece.
Lady Gaga was appropriately decked out for her Fame fragrance lunch at the Guggenheim Thursday, the last night of New York's Spring 2013 Fashion Week.
She made quite an entrance, arriving in a vintage convertible, donning a black beaded and crystaled tulle dress with embroidery by Prabal Gurung. She paired the gown with a fur stole (are you reading this, PETA?), a black onyx and diamond ring from Kwiat's Vintage Collection, and black enamel diamond bracelets from Kwiat's Melody collection.
Her Fame masquerade-themed ball included beefy shirtless guys lined up at the entrance to greet guests, who arrived in all manner of costumes and masks.
Fashion who’s whom were there, including Marc Jacobs, shoe designer Brian Atwood, Alexander Wang, Olivier Theyskens, model Jessica Stam,Jason Wu, Michael Strahan, Yoko Ono, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.
Also there, photographer Steven Klein, who shot her Fame video, and showed a longer version to kick off the party.
Once inside the party, Gaga climbed into a giant version of her Fame bottle, played with her iPad, put on some makeup and urinated in a garbage can -- the usual things. Then, she fell asleep listening to Edith Piaf tunes, letting her fans to approach and stick their hands inside the bottle to touch her hand and awaken her. Pretty sure this went on for around 20 or 30 minutes, but it felt like so much longer.
Afterwards her Gaganess stripped to her lingerie and thong, while L.A. ink man Mark Mahoney tattooed a small cherub on the back of her recently-shaved head.
It's all beginning to make sense. Or is it? Watch the two videos and tell us: What do you think of Lady Gaga's "Sleeping with Lady Gaga" act and her very public toilette?
