Lady Gaga Hot |
The much-hyped perfume bottle filled with an inky-hued concoction seems to be a harbinger of an industry change. What that change is, I'm not quite sure.
The scent, Lady Gaga Fame, debuts in early September and it looks to be a drastic change from typical celebrity scents. The fragrance itself, however, looks and sounds darker and more dangerous than the ingredients reveal.
We wouldn't expect something simple syrupy sweet from the mistress who calls her followers Little Monsters, in the most endearing way possible. But so far, the adverts for the new fragrance seem to threaten to unleash the hounds.
If it wasn't a perfume launch, I'd swear it was a new horror film or futuristic post-apocalyptic thriller. A really scary one.
Videos from the Lady Gaga Fame film created with director Steven Klein for the fragrance release premiered on LittleMonsters.com.
Still I'll admit, I'm a little skeptical of spraying a black mist on my clothing, but I'm sure the chemists have done their job.
The scent is built around three key concepts dark, sensual and light.
The darkness, inspired by belladonna, the poisonous plant known as Deadly Nightshade. It is said to be the hallmark of haunted beauties since the 18th century.
Like many lethal things, the belladonna is said to be seductively floral and sweet.
Next comes from a sensuous layer, a fusion of "dripping honey, saffron and apricot nectar". So is dripping honey different than still honey, I wonder.
Anyway, the final component is a rich floral layer of crushed tiger orchid and jasmine sambac.
So in the end the black liquid brew is floral and fruity. That doesn't seem so sinister. However, the makers say that the Belladonna gives the scent its true Lady Gaga-worthy flare.
