Lady Gaga’s personality to shine on the Baltic stages

RIGA - Controversy is today’s foundation for surprise, and the entertainment industry is where this controversy is eager to appear the most. The debate of the necessity of a surprise has already become useless, as its success has spread around the world, and every artist includes a moment of the unexpected in the creative program.

Lady Gaga can be called the controversy queen. Her music challenges the heights, and no doubt a sufficient effort will be given to reach them. Audiences in the Baltics are offered to attend probably one of the most shocking events in the music arena when Lady Gaga welcomes everyone onboard, and enters the “Born This Way Ball” at the end of August.

The world of music is not the same anymore, ever since the stage opened its horizons for Lady Gaga (her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta). In 2008, when the artist released her first studio album “The Fame,” she became a brand, one which is either loved or hated, but definitely powerful, all while she transforms music into a business which has no boundaries. She continues writing and has released “The Fame Monster” which cements her evident rule of music. Her smash hits, such as “Poker Face,” “Paparazzi,” “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” place Lady Gaga in the highest rank of the industry, making the singer one of the most discussed artists in history. However, there is more.

In 2011 she started another era, in both her music and style. It possesses the Gaga sound, which is improved and, hence, even more breathtaking. The album “Born This Way” indicates that the singer has no one who can challenge or overcome her in controversy, surprise and songs. Hits “Judas,” “The Edge of Glory” and “You and I” are full of musical challenges which fascinate listeners with melodies, lyrics and adventure.

“The Born This Way Ball is an Electro-Metal Pop-Opera; the tale of the Beginning, the genesis of the Kingdom of Fame. How we were born and how we will die celebrating,” says Lady Gaga in describing the upcoming event. Clearly it is a show with a capital S, and the artist and her team have worked hard to ensure that the level of spectacle will be high enough. Why? Lady Gaga pushes to the max! No wonder that her previous tour “The Monster Ball” got the reviews it did, with The Sun calling it as “the best live show,” and the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards claiming it the major tour of the year.

Lady Gaga can be one of those few artists who creates music, not one who is told what to sing. She establishes her trend and follows it carefully. Of course, it has divided audiences, with some wondering about Gaga’s ability, or inability to attract the masses without the adventurism, shock and exaggerated make-up and clothes she wears. Admirers love her confidence and shamelessness, but her detractors outline her lack of modesty. Whatever is emphasized, there are no uninterested individuals.

The controversy moves her phenomenon forwards. Yet, it would never work if there was no personality to make it happen. The global business magazine Forbes has placed her on the list of the world’s most powerful celebrities and on the list of the hundred most powerful women. It shows that Gaga’s presence is not only about controversy, but also about the desire to speak in a way which can be heard. If it means it has to be shocking, then it takes the risk to do so.

What will the audience see at this concert? Attitude, belief and an unmistakable respect towards a job which is shown on stage! You don’t have to like Lady Gaga, but this is surely a rare chance to see how music is performed by a top gun! What is more important: prejudice or curiosity? The answer – most likely – lies within!
